So many topics...so little time...
Monday, December 21, 2009 at 2:07PM So I sit here staring at my screen with a flood of potential topics to discuss as part of my long overdue Fizzle Pop post. Yet, while all of them are of particular interest to me at this present moment, none of them seemed worthy of an individual post. That said, I'll give you all a little sneak peak into the randomness that is my brain as of this mid-afternoon moment on December 21st, 2009:
- Today is the solstice...a day to dread considering those of us in the Pacific Northwest endure the shortest day of the year which translates to a sunset at somewhere before 4pm. It is, however, also a day of celebration as it officially means that starting tomorrow, we'll get incremental increases of daylight moving forward meaning summer is just around the corner, right?!
- How much is too much -- this year, I've made it a personal goal to try to get my house on television around the holidays...every holiday season I always watch with amazement at the houses featured on the local news that have crazy amounts of decorations and lights...so this year I thought, it might be my turn. With over 10,000 lights, a musical display, 5 blow-up features and a whole lot more, I think I'm well on my way...but yet I am frequently asking myself questions like do I stop at Home Depot on my way home and get a few more displays? Will I need the electricians to come out AGAIN to assist with my obsession of 'going big or going home'? How much is too much?!
- Quality?! In our profession, quality is key...kinda funny considering we received notification today of a potential award we've won for a client of ours that still had track changes on as a part of the email notification...does one laugh or does one cry?!
- Can there be any more debate about Avatar?! I mean did anyone REALLY think it was going to have a great storyline?! Take the movie for what it's worth...a visual extravaganza that will push the envelope of filmmaking for many years to come...if you're looking for a good story, read a book!
- If I forgot to send a Change of Address card to Santa, will he still be able to find me in our new home?!
- Why do I still not understand the lyric, "Someone left the cake out in the rain"?! What a waste of potentially good cake.
- Only 27 left until 24. Woo-hoo!
All of that is to say our minds are frequently cluttered with all sorts of useful/useless details. During this holiday season, I encourage you all (myself included) to take pause and relfect on the year that has been...and the new year that is upon us.
Happy Holidays.
