The Obligatory Post-Awards Show Post: Grammy Edition

So....the Grammys. (Grammies? Grammys? Wikipedia says "Grammys")

Highlights:

• No one interrupted Taylor Swift's acceptance for "Album of the Year"
• Beyonce's record-breaking haul
• Excellent performances by unexpected collaboration partners
• Lady Gaga's wardrobe really took it to the next level

Lowlights:

• Fergie's codpiece
• 3D effect that's only cool if you happen to have 3D glasses on your coffee table for just such an occasion (but who keeps 3D glasses on the coffee table?)
• Britney...bless her heart

Is it me or are shows getting bigger and more outrageous each year? Is it to attract viewers? Have awards shows jumped the shark? Or does the voyeur in all of us want to see celebrities so badly that we'll continue watching regardless of how ridiculous the shows become?
